Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the Dormeet application (“App”). By creating an account or using Dormeet, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in or affiliated with a college or university to use Dormeet. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

2. Your Account

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must provide accurate and truthful information in your profile.
  • You may not create more than one account.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Notify us immediately at support@dormeet.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use Dormeet for any unlawful purpose.
  • Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users.
  • Post content that is hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise offensive.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, age, or college affiliation.
  • Use the App for commercial solicitation, spam, or advertising unrelated to campus life.
  • Upload photos that you do not have the right to use, or that contain other people without their consent.
  • Attempt to access other users’ accounts or private data.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the App.
  • Post fraudulent marketplace listings or misrepresent the condition of items for sale.
  • Circumvent or manipulate the matching system.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. There is no tolerance for objectionable content (including harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or illegal content) or abusive users on Dormeet. You can report any profile, photo, message, or marketplace listing, and block any user, at any time from within the App. We review reports of objectionable content and, where a report is confirmed, remove the content and may suspend or permanently ban the responsible user — typically within 24 hours. 4. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you post on Dormeet (photos, bio, messages, marketplace listings). By posting content, you grant Dormeet a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the App.

You are solely responsible for the content you post. We do not endorse or verify user-generated content and are not liable for any content posted by users.

5. Marketplace

  • Dormeet provides a platform for students to list and discover items for sale. We are not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers.
  • Sellers are responsible for the accuracy of their listings and for fulfilling transactions.
  • Buyers are responsible for inspecting items before completing a purchase.
  • Dormeet does not process payments. All transactions are arranged between users directly.
  • We are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or availability of items listed on the marketplace.

6. AI Features

  • Dormeet offers an AI-powered bio generator to help you write your profile bio.
  • AI-generated content is provided for convenience and may not always be accurate.
  • You are responsible for reviewing and approving any AI-generated content before it is added to your profile.

7. Matching and Interactions

Dormeet facilitates connections between college students. We do not conduct background checks on users and cannot guarantee the identity, intentions, or behavior of any user. You are responsible for your own safety when interacting with other users. We strongly recommend meeting in public places on campus.

8. Privacy

Your use of Dormeet is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information. Our Community Guidelines also form part of these Terms.

9. Intellectual Property

The Dormeet name, logo, design, and all related content, features, and functionality are owned by Dormeet and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our written permission.

10. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through the Settings screen in the App. Upon deletion:

  • Your profile will be immediately removed from other users’ view.
  • Your personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
  • Messages you sent to other users may still be visible to those users.
  • Marketplace listings will be removed.

11. Disclaimers

Dormeet is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dormeet and its founders, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to damages arising from interactions with other users, marketplace transactions, or reliance on AI-generated content.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dormeet and its founders, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another user or third party.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App. Continued use of Dormeet after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the App and delete your account.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Dormeet shall be resolved in the courts located in Montgomery County, Virginia.
